The United States is keen to work with the Telangana government in the field of renewable energy sector and are willing to be a technological partner in the green hub project in the state. A high level economic and business delegation from the United States led by Mr Charles Rivkin Assistant Secretary for economic and business affairs, United States Department of State met the Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce and Energy Mr Arvind Kumar at the Secretariat on Thursday. 
The Principal Secretary briefed about the energy sector in the state .  He said the state has targeted to generate 2,500 MW solar power by the end of this year.  The solar policy of the state government has been widely welcomed by the industrialists. Of the total 8000 MW of solar power finalized by the government of India, 2500 MW is from Telangana, he said and added that in line with its support to technology entrepreneurs, the state is preparing to set up an incubation centre for renewable energy start-ups next year. The government is joining hands with Texas University which would bring the requisite technical know how, he said.   He  dwelt upon the various issues relating to renewable energy sector and the  new set of challenges in the present scenario.  He sought the expertise of the US in the transportation and storage of solar power and  how to make the solar roof top model cost effective.   
The members of the delegation said that there are lots of opportunites to invest in India and appreciated the solar power policy of the state government.  Mr Brian Peck, Director in Charge of International Affairs and Business development for California said that they were willing to work with the state government on the Innovation hub. Mr Ziad Haider, Special representative for commercial and business affairs, Ms Urmila Venugopalan, Senior Advisor, Mr Partha Mazumdar, senior Economic Officer, Ms Jen Bauer Staff Assistant, Members of the US – India business delegation, industry representatives from Telangana state participated in the meeting.
