Geethu Mahan Das' `Liar's Dice' enters Oscars
Geethu Mohan Das' movie `Liar's Dice' has got nomination to Oscars. Her films beat 29 other Indian films to represent India at 87th edition of Oscars. `Liar's Dice' is Geethu's first feature film in Hindi, which has Geethanjali Thappa and Nawasuddin Siddiqui done the lead. The film is scritped by Geethu and Cinematography handled by her husband Rejeev Ravi. `Liars Dice' is India's official entry to the 87th Academy Awards, in the best foreign language category. The film was screened at Sundance, Rotterdam and Edinburg film Festivals. Rajeev Ravi won the best cinematography National award for this film this year. The story of the film revolves around a village woman from Himalayas set off with her infant daughter and a goat in search of her missing husband.
M.T. Vasudevan Nair selected for J.C. Daniel Award
Director, litteratteur and script writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair has been selected for this year's J.C. Daniel award. He is the 21st recipient to win this award. The award carries an amoumt of Rs. One lakh, a citation and a plaque. He achieved the award considering his contributions to Malayalam cinema. MT Has scripted for almost sixty films and helmed eight films. He has received National award for best screen play four times. MT will receive the award on October 17. The award was announced by minister for cinema Thiruvanchooor Radha Krishnan.
MT made his entry as script writer through `Murapennu' based on a novel penned by him. His directorial venture was`Nirmalyam' (1974) and won best National film award. He has also received Padma Bhooshan. He was selected by a jury comprising Malayalam university vice chancellor and bureaucrat K. Jaya Kumar, actor Madhu, producer P.V. Gangadharan and director Rajeevnath.
