Tirumala, 1 August 2016: The pilgrim devotees are going to witness the Garuda Seva of Lord Sri Malayappa Swamy in Tirumala twice this month on August 7 and August 18 with the advent of Garuda Panchami and Sravana Pournami respectively.
Every month the processional deity of lord will be taken on a celestial ride on Garuda vahanam during every fullmoon day. However this month, the devotees will cherish additional vahana seva as the auspicious festival of Garuda Panchami is falling on August 7.
SIGNIFICANCE OF GARUDA PANCHAMI:
Garuda Panchami is usually celebrated on the fifth day of Sukla Paksha in Hindu Almanac. This pooja is usually performed by women who wanted to be blessed with children. By invoking Lord Garuda on this auspicious occasion, the children will be born bold, brave and sharp-minded like Garuda. Newly wed couples perform this pooja for a happy married life. By performing this pooja, it is also believed that those suffering from Naga Dosham will be alleviated.
LORD ON GARUDA
On this auspicious occasion, the Lord Malayappa Swamy will take ride on specially decked Garuda Vahanam in the four mada streets of Tirumala between 7pm and 9pm on August 7.
SRAVANA POURNAMI GARUDA SEVA
Meanwhile as the hill town will be witnessing yet another important occasion of Sravana Pournami on August 18, the Lord Malayappa Swamy will bless His devotees even on that day on Garuda Vahanam.
