Tiruchanoor, 3 December,2016: On the penultimate 8th day of ongoing Brahmotsavams of Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, Tiruchanoor, Rathotsavam was held in grand manner on the four mada streets thrilling the devotees.
The ratham with the utsava idol of Goddess Padmavati with her paraphernalia of deities was was taken in a procession at 7.59 AM in the Tula lagnam.
The ratham indicated Body, Mind is sarathi, ropes were Mind and horses were all senses and charioteer is Knowledge. Legends say that Rathotsavam was not just a festival but a ritual which sowed the seeds of devotion and spirituality among devotees.
Temple priests performed Snapana Thirumanjanam to the deity with turmeric, sandal, milk, curd, honey, scented water, coconut water to the utsava idols at Ratha Mandapam in the afternoon. The deity was later decked up with special decoration of flowers, silks and jewels.
Similarly the utsava idols were taken out on Aswa vahanam at 8pm to 10pm. Legends say that the Horse was alive witness to the moments of first sight, first love and meeting of both Goddess Padmavati and Lord Venkateswara.
TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao, JEO Sri Pola Bhaskar, Suptd of Police Smt Jayalakshmi, CVSO Sri G Srinivas, ACVSO Sri Sivakumar Reddy, Spl Gr DyEO Sri Munirathnam Reddy, AEO Sri Radhakrishna, temple staff and devotees witnessed the celestial procession.
