Panditharadhyula Balasubrahmanyam, popularly known as SPB/ Balu is a legendary
playback singer in the Indian Film Industry. Having sung over 40,000 songs in
15 different Indian languages, SPB holds the record for the most number of
songs rendered by a playback singer. He is highly regarded and loved by
musicians and composers for his versatility and virtuosity.
SPB
is also a noted actor, music director, dubbing
artist /voice actor, film producer and television
anchor. He has acted in more than 45 films in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada
languages, composed music for more than 45
films, dubbed for various artists in over 100 films, and a television anchor
for 7 shows ( a 19 year association with ETV telugu - Paadutaa Teeyagaa)
From
a very young age, attributing to his rich melodious voice, SPB has sung for
veteran Indian actors such as M G Ramachandran, N T Rama Rao, A Nageswara Rao,
Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan. SPB’s skill in adapting to each actor’s unique
voice made him a sought-after singer over generations. His immaculate singing,
discipline, and talent has won the loyalties of stalwart music directors such
as M S Vishwanathan, K V Mahadevan, Illayaraja, R D Burman, Anand-Milind, to
name a few. As a special mention, SPB has dubbed in notable Oscar nominated
films such as Gandhi for Ben Kingsley, Slum dog Millionaire for Anil Kapoor.

SPB’S
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

SPB
has raised funds for many a charitable cause through countless stage shows. He
believes that helping the lives of the weak and underprivileged cascades into
an overall betterment of the society. Using this as a guiding principle, SPB’s
fans started the ‘SPB Fans Charitable Foundation’. The foundation
funds institutions that provide care and support for the weak, poor,
destitute, orphaned, and marginalized sections of our society.
Owing
to his immense popularity, SPB has been nominated by the Honorable Prime
Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Government for the “Swacch Bharat”
mission.This mission compliments SPB’s personal belief in creating a harmonious
environment and hence he is an active crusader for this movement. He regularly
participates in various activities along with the Government in his hometown
Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.
SPB
has completed 50 years in the Indian Film Industry on December 15, 2016. To
celebrate this musical sojourn, Capital Film Works ( CFW) run by S. P. Charan
is organising a musical Grand World tour SPB 50 in various countries. SPB
50 is a spectacular tribute by leading playback singers and actors singing/
performing ONLY SPB’s songs. Singers such as K S Chitra, S P Sailaja, Karthik,
Vijay Prakash, Haricharan, SPB Charan, and Actors such as Radhika Sarath kumar,
Sarath Kumar, Meena, Nirosha, Ramki, and Priyamani have been a part of SPB
50 so far.
SPB
50 Grand World tour shows have been extremely successful attracting an audience
of over 50,000 people, and having performed at highly reputed venues such as
the Kremlin Palace auditorium, Moscow (Dr SPB is the first Indian to have
performed a commercial show at the Grand Kremlin Palacae auditorium,
Russia ).
