Tirumala,15 january 2017:The celestial mock Safari Festival, "Paruveta Utsavam" was observed with celestial grandeur in the dark woods of Seshachala ranges in Tirumala on Sunday.
Thousands of devotees took part in the mock hunting jubilations organised in connection with the Kanuma festival by temple administration of TTD.
The processional deity of Lord Malayappa dressed in the royal robes of a Universal King was taken out to Paruveta Mandapam located about 2km away from hill shrine in interior forests, in a grand procession. The deity was equipped with his celestial panchayudhas - Gada, Khadga, Sankhu, Chakra, Bana befitting the occasion.
After the completion of certain religious formalities at the mandapam, the priests enacted the mock hunting game sending the audience into peels of laughter.
Enthusiastic devotees chanted Govinda Namas when the mock hunting sport was repeated thrice. Later the deities retuned to the temple in the evening.
Ttd Trust Board Chief Dr Ch Krishnamurthy, Ttd EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao,and temple staff were took part in this celestial event.
