Moviebuff First Clap Contest Finalists Announced














Screening in 150+ screens next to you from 10th March 2017 to 13th April 2017
 
Chennai, March 13th, 2017 - First Clap, an initiative of Moviebuff, is India's first theatrically showcased talent hunt for aspiring filmmakers, challenging them to tell a compelling story in three minutes on any subject of their interest. Beginning December 16, 2016, more than 250 entries were received. The top five shortlisted films are being screened for a period of five weeks across 150 screens in the Qube Cinema Network from March 10th 2017 to 13th April 2017.
On offer to the winners of this contest, chosen from public voting and the scores awarded by a panel of eminent jurists, apart from cash prizes for the top three entries, is an enviable opportunity to the winner to narrate a script to actor Suriya’s 2D Entertainment and/or an opportunity to intern with the production company as well!

The shortlisted finalists include App(a) Lock - Directed by Pradeep Ranganathan,
Indha Naal Iniya Naal - Directed by Magesh Balasubramaniam, Ival Azhagu - Directed by Sri Vijay Ganapathy, Think & Ink- Directed by Nattu Dev and Yennanga Sir Unga Sattam - Directed by Prabhu Jeyaram.

The judges include Cinematographer and Director PC Sreeram, Director Ezhil, Director Vetrimaran, Cinematographer Magesh Muthuswamy, Director Arun Kumar S.U., CEO of 2D Entertainment Rajsekar Karpoorasundarapandian, Film Editor KL Praveen, Audiographer Udayakumar, Director Hari Viswanath, Chennai International Short Film Festival Director Srinivasa Santhanam and Film Critic and Trade Analyst Sathish Kumar who is also CEO of Common Man Media.

The uniqueness of this contest, brought to you by Moviebuff, courtesy the Qube Cinema Network & LittleShows, is that, for the first time ever, contestants have an opportunity to have direct feedback from moviegoers for their creative work via screenings all across the state in mainstream cinema halls! The audience can participate in this contest by choosing the next filmmaker via sending a unique SMS code.

He would love to make more movies with hope being the central theme.

Ennanga Sir Unga Sattam
Synopsis
A frail old man gets trapped in the complicated web of the Indian banking system.
Director Profile
Prabhu Jeyaram worked as a software engineer before realizing his true passion lay in movies, and has directed two short films, Pattha Vaida Paratta and Oxygen. His focus is on making world-class cinema, with elements of commercialism as well as a subtle social message that encourages critical thinking.

Intha Naal Iniya Naal
Synopsis
An exchange turns into a murderous rampage, and an extremely lucky day for a complete stranger.

Director Profile
Magesh Balasubramaniam is a Visual Communications graduate from Madras Christian College. He has previously worked on a few short films and is currently working as an Assistant Director on Maanagaram and Balloon.

Aware of the issues present in the romantic relationships of the current generation, a doting father tries to separate his daughter from her lover.

After being dragged into a cyber scandal, an empowered woman becomes an example to her generation when she decides to bravely move on with her life and start living.

Vijay Ganapathy has been working the past three years as an assistant in short films and telefilms. Including Ival Azhagu, he has made four short films thus far. He likes directing women's based scripts, romantic thrillers and movies with social commercial elements.

The films will be screened at a select set of screens during interval for 3.5 minutes (the running time of each of the films is just that) and the public will also take part in the voting.

These filmmakers will be invited by 2D Entertainment for a story discussion besides being provided with an opportunity to apprentice with the banner.
