Srinivasa Mangapuram, 24 March 2017: The annual Pushpayagam in Sri Kalyana Venkateswara swamy temple in Srinivasa Mangapuram offered a colourful visual treat to the scores of devotees who took part in this fete on Friday.
This festival happens to be one of the most important religious rituals in the Sri Vaishnava Sampradayam. Generally, it is conducted to appease the almighty to save the mankind from natural calamities such as cyclones, famine, earth quake etc. This utsavam is usually conducted on sravana nakshatram day the birth star of Lord Venkateswara. Veda Sathumurai’ and ‘Santhi Manthra’ recitation will also be performed seeking peace and tranquility in the world. And auspicious Shravana star occurred on Friday.
Earlier in the day, Snapana Tirumanjanam was performed to the processional deities of Lord Kalyana Venkateswara and His Consorts at Kalyana Mandapam inside the yagasala premises between 10:30am to 12 noon.
Later, the lord along with His consorts will be given a floral bath with nearly 6 tonnes of flowers including 18 varieties from 2.30pm to 5pm. Later, unjal seva and veedhi utsavam followed Pushpayagam in the evening. The temple authorities have cancelled arjitha Kalyanotsavam in connection with the festival.
Meanwhile TTD performed Pushpayagam for the first time in the history of the Srinivasa Mangapuram temple in the year 2008. Willing grihastas can take part in this seva by paying Rs.516/- on which two members are allowed.
