Tirupati, 25 March 2017: The Saint poet Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya and his descendants have penned tens of thousands of sankeertans in Telugu literature and hence their literary works can be described as "Andhra Vedam", said renowned scholar Sri G B Sankar Rao.
The Sahiti Sadas in connection with Tallapaka Annamacharya took place in Annamacharya Kalamandiram in Tirupati on Saturday. Speaking on this occasion, Sri Sankar Rao said, Tallapaka Annamacharya died in the year 1503.
"He has penned a great work "Sankeertana Lakshanam" in Sanskrit which was later translated in telugu by Tallapaka Chinna Tirumalaiah. The inscriptions in the temple shows that Sri Annamacharya has written sankeertans on Dasavataras", he said.
When Sri Sattiraju Venumadhav described the beauty of usage of words in Annamaiah Sankeertans, renowned danseuse Dr Yasodha Thakur explained the sankeertans of Annamaiah which have the wide scope to perform Nrityabhinaya.
