A
high-level committee met today in the Office of DGP, TS to discuss the action
plan to eradicate Adulteration of food items in various sectors of the State.
The Committee is chaired by Sri Anurag Sharma, Director General of Police,
Telangana State. The DGP has said that the Committee has decided to create 16
special task forces to check food adulteration in the state with the help of
GHMC, Medical and Health Department and Police Department. He also said that it
was decided to strengthen the existing 7 (seven) task forces for spurious
seeds, fertilizers and pesticides. He further said that the local Police
officers will also be sensitised in this regard, so that food adulteration,
spurious seeds, fertilisers and pesticides are checked immediately. He said
that the committee has also discussed to examine the feasibility of invoking PD
Act against repeat offenders. He added that the Telephone numbers of the Task
force incharge and also centralised compliant cell will be notified to the
public shortly so that complaints can be made.
