TIRUMALA, 9 July 2017: The pontiffs of Tirumala, HH Sri Periyakovil Kelviyappan Shadagopa Ramanuja Pedda Jiyangar Swamy along with his junior pontiff, HH Sri Narayana Ramanuja Chinna Jiyangar swamy commenced Chaturmasa Deeksha with utmost devotion on Sunday.
On this auspicious occasion, they were received with the traditional temple honours in Tirumala temple. TTD EO
Anil Kumar Singhal welcomed the seers on their arrival at Maha Dwaram. Later the holy seers duo had darshan of Lord Venkateswara. Earlier, following the temple tradition, the seers offered prayers in the temple of Sri Bhu Varahaswamy.
Afterwards the Peeda Jiyar and Chinna Jiyar swamijis were presented with pattu melchat vastram, parivattam and Bharichat vastram, parivattam respectively inside kulasekhara Alwarpadi in sanctum.
Chaturmasa Deeksha is one of the most important religious fetes followed by the saintly persons during the four months- Shravana, Bhadrapada, Aaswayuja and karteeka as per Hindu Sanatana Dharma seeking the well-being of entire humanity. The seers perform sacred deeds like Snana, Japa, Tapa, Homa etc.with utmost devotion during this period.
