Deities Elated on Bed of Flowers During Pushpayaga Mahotsavam

Appalayagunta, 11 Jul. 17: The processional deities of Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy flanked by Sri Mahalakshmi and Sri Andal Godai graced the devotees who thronged to witness the ceremonial Pushpayagam on Tuesday evening on colourful "Bed of Flowers". 

The annual festival took place in the famous shrine of Appalayagunta between 3pm and 6pm. After offering Tirumanjanam to the utsava murtis in the morning, floral bath was performed to the deities with tones of varieties of traditional and ornamental flowers. 

As per the scriptures, this festival is usually performed to save the earth from natural calamities such as quakes, cyclones, epidemics and appease the Lord to save the life of humanity, flora and fauna from all the catastrophes. It is also considered as Sin-free festival akin to Pavitrotsavams.
