The newly appointed Country
Representative for UNICEF Dr Yasmin Haque called on the Chief Secretary Shri S
P Singh at his office today(03.08.2017).
The Chief Secretary explained
various innovative and unique programs by Government of Telangana including
Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, KCR Kit, Single Women Pension,
Modernization of Government Hospitals and many more. These programs, he told
will improve the status of women and children in the state.
The Chief Secretary also
thanked UNICEF for their support to the state in assessing the Impact of
Mission Bhagiratha on Children and Women, so that the desired objectives of
supplying piped clean water to each and every household is met.
Dr Yasmin appreciated the
efforts of the Government, and reaffirmed the support of UNICEF for the state
of Telangana for the next five years, in line with renewed Five year agreement
(2018-22) with Government of India.
Dr Yasmin also reiterated the
need for integrating water supply with Sanitation and other schemes, so that
the situation of the children and women in Telangana improves holistically.
Dr Yasmin highlighted the need
for the state to bring all child protection interventions under one umbrella
for effective implementation of Child Protection Systems in the state.
Ms Meital Rusdia, Chief; Mr
Salathiel Nalli, WASH Specialist, Dr Deepak Dey, Social Policy Specialist from
Hyderabad office were present in the meeting. Mr Surender Reddy, Engineer in
Chief for Mission Bhagiratha was also present in the meeting.
