Varalakshmi Vratam Performed with Religious Fervour in Sri Padamavathi Ammavari Temple
















Tiruchnaoor, 4 August 2017: The temple town of Tiruchanoor, which is always abuzz with pilgrim activity due to the presence of famous shrine of Sri Padmavathi Devi, on Fridayattained enhanced look as Varalakshmi Vratam has been celebrated with religious fervour.

The "Goddess of Riches" in all Her divine splendour, seated elegantly on a specially decked floral and illuminated platform at Asthana Mandapam in Tiruchanoor. The archakas commenced Varalakshmi Vratam by chanting the 108 sacred names of Goddess. The Vrata kankanam is also performed. This kankanam is the sacred thread consisting nine threads, with each one dedicated to one for of Goddess Maha Lakshmi.

While first thread represents the divine name "Kamalai Namaha", second Pramayai Namaha, Lokamatre Namaha, Vishwa Jananyai Namaha, Mahalakshmai Namaha, Kheerabdi Tanayayai Namaha, Vishwa Sakshinayai Namaha, Chandra Sahodariyai Namaha and with the ninth "Grandhi" - sacred thread representing the name "Hari Vallabhayai" Namaha.

Later Vrata Katha was rendered. The devotees who thronged to witness the celestial fete were enthralled by the divine beauty of Goddess Sri Padmavathi Devi.

TTD EO Sri Anil Kumar Singhal, Tirupati JEO Sri P Bhaskar, CV and SO Sri A Ravikrishna, temple Spl.Gr.DyEO Sri P Munirathnam Reddy and others were also present.

GODDESS DRAPED IN GOLDEN SARI

On the celestial occasion of Varalakshmi Vratam, the presiding deity of Goddess Sri Padmavathi Devi was draped in the precious stones studded golden sari.

The pilgrims thronged in large numbers to the temple, to witness Goddess in special alankaram which is a very rare visual treat.
