Sri B P Acharya,
IAS, Spl. Chief Secretary to Govt. and DG, Dr. MCR HRD Institute visited all
the stalls and congratulated the Officer Trainees for organising the event with
a professional touch.
The
Officer Trainees belonging to such All India Services and Central Civil
Services as IPS, IRS, IFS, etc., who are undergoing 92nd Foundation Course at
Dr. MCR HRD Institute of Telangana, organised FETE – a
day-long
fun-filled food-cum-recreation extravaganza. The entire campus of the Institute
was enveloped in a festive mood and the soulful music in the
background left every one present awestruck.
The
event was inaugurated by Smt. Anitha Balakrishna, IA & AS, Joint Director
General of the Institute & Coordinator of the Course by releasing colourful
balloons in the air.
The
Officer Trainees were seen dishing out authentic and mouth-watering delicacies from across the
country such as Puttu Curry (Kerela), Bisibelepath (Karnataka), Dabeli
(Mahrashtra), Kawa (Kashmir) as well as various kinds of chats and bhelpuri,
which were relished by one and all. In addition, there were a number of
interesting game stalls, including lift the brick, break the pyramid, lucky
seven etc., which captured the imagination of the visitors.
The
challenge before the Officer Trainees was to run their respective stalls as
successful business propositions and to generate net profits to be donated to
an NGO committed to the cause of amelioration of the lot of the weaker sections
of society.
The
Officer Trainees wore different hats; they purchased raw material, cooked
different eatables, attracted customers, served them with a smile on their
faces, and maintained income and expenditure statements and other documents.
The event, therefore, was a vibrant platform for them to learn such concepts of
management as planning, coordination, interpersonal skills, leadership, team
building, etc. and thereby enrich their managerial and entrepreneurial acumen.
FETE provided an opportunity to the
Officer Trainees to prove that they not only have the ability to crack the
world’s most difficult civil services examination but also possess the
requisite multitasking talents to organise an event of a huge magnitude.
In addition to classroom lectures,
the Institute organises a number of extra-curricular
and co-
curricular activities, as a part of the Foundation Course, to enable the
Officer Trainees to learn from their ground-level
experiences.
The
event was attended by the Officer Trainees, Officers, Faculty, and Staff of Dr.MCR
HRD Institute, and a large contingent of students from Government Residential
School for Girls, Government Residential School for Boys, and Little Star
School located in Jubilee Hills.
