Telangana State Government Felicitates Rtd DGP Anurag Sharma in Pragati Bhavan

Honourable Chief Minister Sri K Chandrashekhar Rao said that it is to the credit of the Telangana police and their first DGP Sri Anurag Sharma that the statements made by the prophets of doom misinformation that if a Telangana state is formed there will be total break down of the Law and Order situation were proved wrong. For the three and half years as DGP Sri Anurag Sharma unveiled the new state as the best in the law and order and the state with tolerance, the CM congratulated. He said it was a proud moment for the Telangana state that it became number one state in the country in terms of maintaining the law and order and introducing new policing concepts. In Telangana state, the police are not only confining themselves to their duties but also taking responsibility on several social issues. For DGP Sri Anurag Sharma who retired, a warm farewell function is accorded at the Pragati Bhavan here on Tuesday on behalf of the state government. Deputy CMs Sri Kadiam Srihari, Sri Mohammed Ali, Ministers Sri Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Sri Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Sri Tummala Nageswara Rao, Sri Jagdeesh Reddy, Sri Indrakaran Reddy, Sri Jogu Ramanna, Government’s Chief Advisor Sri Rajiv Sharma, Chief Secretary Sri SP Singh, DGP Sri Mahender Reddy, several MLAs, MLCs, Corporation Chairmen, IAS, IPS, IFS officers were present.

Speaking as Chief Guest, the CM said when the new state was formed it was a  difficult situation and Sri Anurag Sharma worked very hard to make the police as the best security organisation and his role will go down in the history.

“As long as vacillation among the human behaviour is, there will be law and order problem on the earth. Hence maintaining law and order is a continuous process. One has to work with lot of intelligence and with new and innovative ideas one has to maintain the law and order with new methods. For this sky is the limit for taking up new experiments.  Telangana police have brought in many innovative ideas like setting up of the SHE teams, putting about a lakh of CCTVs in the city and in the counter intelligence, Telangana police got a good name in the country. The police have actively participated in Swach Hyderabad, Mission Kakatiya and participated in the social programmes. They have done a wonderful job in conducting pushkarams to Godavari and Krishna. They have done a good job having good coordination with the elected representatives and officials. This is as DGP Sri Anurag Sharma provided the leadership. This could happen due to his coordination,” the CM said.

“Telangana region had never been so peaceful as that of the past three years. Every time there used to be some disturbance. Even during the Assembly session, there used to be allegations against the police department. But the Telangana police have changed the things for better. In GHMC elections we asked the voters to vote for us based on the performance of the police. Such a situation never occurred in the past. I felt elated when union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and other ministers talked about the efficiency of the Telangana police in counter intelligence, which helped the security of the nation and their role in maintaining the law and order. This is possible due to the efforts of Sri Anurag Sharma and former city police Commissioner Sri Mahender Reddy. We have appointed Sri Anurag Sharma as an advisor to utilise his vast experience and professional skill. New DGP Mahender Reddy has the patience, professional skills and ability to fulfill aims. The police department will scale new heights under his leadership. The Telangana police who are number one in the country should also become top in the world,” the CM desired.

Sri Anurag Sharma replied to the warm farewell accorded to him. He said in the past no DGP ever had the privilege of having such a farewell. He said he considered this farewell function as being accorded in recognition of the services rendered by the entire police force. He said he is happy that when the new state was formed when the CM gave him the responsibility he could live upto the expectations with the cooperation’s of others officers and the personnel. He said KCR’s Bangaru Telangana vision is great and hoped that the State would become number one state with high standards in all fronts in the country. DG Anjani Kumar proposed a vote of thanks. Home secretary Sri Rajiv Trivedi and others officers have congratulated Sri Anurag Sharma.
