Hon’ble MP Smt. Kavitha Kalvakuntla led a team of government officials from
Telangana composed of Hon’ble MLA Sh. Jeevan Reddy, TSIIC MD Sh. E.V. Narsimha
Reddy, Director-food processing and others to Haridwar, Uttarakhand to meet
Baba Ramdev and Sh. Acharya Balakrishna.
This was a follow up from Acharya Balakrishna’s visit to Nizamabad in
November last year. Hon’ble MP Smt. Kavitha Garu presented the newly launched
food processing policy and various progressive schemes from the Government of
Telangana to the Patanjali top management.
Telangana team presented on the bountiful availability of raw material such
as turmeric, chillies, maize and soybean. Further, procurement opportunities
for citrus fruits and other commodities were also discussed for various
Patanjali products. The discussions were concluded by signing an MoU between
Managing Director, Patanjali- Sh. Acharya Balakrishna and Managing Director,TSIIC-
Sh. E.V. Narsimha Reddy with a commitment from Patanjali to setup a large food
park in the state.
Notably, Patanjali group had committed an overall investment of more than
10,000 crores countrywide at the global food processing fair, World Food India
organised by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries in New Delhi. The food
park could consist of units for edible oil, fruit pulp and spices processing.
Thereafter, Sh. Acharya Balkrishna showed the Patanjali campus and their state
of the art research facilities to the Telangana team. Patanjali group also
expressed interest in developing indigenous seed varieties and animal feed
value chain in the state of Telangana. The new food processing policy from
Telangana has garnered a lot of interest so far from various business groups in
the country.
