Karthika Abhishekam to Bedi Anjaneya Swamy on Dec 10th

Tirumala, 5 December 2017: As the last sunday in the auspicious Karthika month is occurring on December 10, special Abhishekam will be performed to Sri Bedi Anjaneya Swamy in Tirumala on this sacred occasion. This celestial fete takes place between 9am and 10am. TTD officials participate in this special abhishekam.

The temple of Bedi Anjaneya Swamy is located exactly opposite to Srivari temple in Tirumala with the standing posture of Lord Anjaneya handcuffed. There is an interesting story behind this posture of Lord Hanuman. One day, during her stay on the Tirumala Hills, Anjana Devi, the mother of Hanuman prevented her beloved son who was wandering in search of his camel.  Anjana Devi had tied both His hands with hand cuffs (Bedi) and ordered Him to stay right there until she returns. “Bala Hanuman, with all the respect for His mother, obediently followed her orders. But Anjana Devi did not come back.

Since them Bala Hanuman is standing waiting for his mother. Watching His beloved disciple standing all alone in front of His Temple, Lord Sri Venkateswara instructed His Temple priests in their dream to offer timely food to Bala Hanuman each and everyday and take good care of Him till his mother returns. It is for this reason that even today that the neivedyam prepared in Tirumala temple is also offered to Sri Bedi Anjaneya Swamy along with Varahaswamy everyday with out any deviation.
