Hyderabad,
27th December 2017: The 13th convocation ceremony of Post
Graduate Diploma in Rural Development Management (PGDRDM) of the National
Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj was held at NIRD&PR
campus on December 27, 2017. A batch of
37 students who graduated, received their diplomas from the Chief Guest of the
occasion, Shri M. K. Raut , IAS, State Chief Information Commissioner, Government
of Chhatisgarh. The Gold Medal for the best academic performance was awarded to
Mr. G. Praveen Krishna, while the Silver and Bronze Medals were awarded to
second and third best performing
students i. e. Ms. Lakshmi Aparna R and Mr. Shitiz Kashyap respectively.
Dr.
W. R. Reddy, IAS, Director General, NIRD&PR, presided over the function. Dr.
Franklin Laltinkhuma , IAS, Registrar , NIRD&PR welcomed the Chief Guest.
Dr.
W. R. Reddy, IAS, Director General, NIRD&PR who administered the
convocation oath to students, congratulated the entire 13th batch of
PGDRDM. In his inaugural address, the Director General said that it is a new
innings for students and advised them to work with commitment and passion.
Speaking on the occasion,
the Chief Guest Shri M. K. Raut, IAS,
State Chief Information Commissioner advised the students that for better output,
rural development professionals should visit the villages, interact with the people
and make night halts in the villages. He also shared the 'open defecation free’ model and
Hamar Chhatisgarh model of rural development in Chhatisgarh in his speech.
Dr.
C. S. Singhal, Professor and Head, Centre for PG Studies and Distance Education
while presenting the course report of the thirteenth batch of PGDRDM, shared
the programme objectives and main highlights of the 13th batch. He
informed that 99 per cent of the graduating students have secured good
placement in reputed organisations. The vote of thanks was given by Dr. A.
Debapriya, Associate Professor, Centre for PG Studies and Distance Education.
