A Team of Forest officers
from Madhya Pradesh State has visited Telangana State to study and understand
Telanganaku Haritha Haram programme in the state. The officers have been
briefed about the objective and mandate of the programme. Telanganaku Haritha
Haram programme is aimed at increasing the green cover from 24% to 33% in the
state. It is decided to plant 230 Crores plants in the state in 4 years under
the programme. Out of these 230 Crores plants, 130 Crores plants will be
planted outside the forest area. So far, 81.60 Crores plants have been planted
during last 3 years under the programme. The plants planted are also being
geo-tagged for better monitoring for survival of the plants, during 2017-18,
out of 34.07 Crores plants planted, 30.70 Crores planted have been geo-tagged
so far.
In addition to taking up
plantations, great emphasis is given to development of Urban Forest Parks. The
Forest blocks occurring in and around cities and towns are being developed into
Urban Lung Spaces for the benefit of local citizens. These Urban Forest Parks
are not only providing the wholesome healthy living environment but also
contribute to the growth of smart, clean, green, sustainable and healthy cities
in the state. Facilities like walking paths, cycle trails, watch towers,
Environmental Extension Centers and other essential public amenities are being
developed within these parks. There is a lot of appreciation from the local
people and a large numbers of people are visiting these parks especially for
morning walk and other recreational facilities.
The team of officers from
Madhya Pradesh has visited Telanganaku Haritha Haram works in Siddipet and Mechal
districts of the state and inspected Block plantations, Avenue plantations,
Assisted Natural Regeneration and Forest Urban Park in the Forest Areas and
other planting activities outside the Forest areas. They have highly impressed
with the works taken up under the programme and they were surprised to see the
magnitude of the programme. They were highly impressed with the quality of the
works grounded by various Departments in the state. The team comprised of Sri.
P.C. Dube, IFS, Addl. Prl. Chief Conservator of Forests (Research &
Extension), Sri. Ajay Jhadav, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests, Sr. P.K.
Khatri, Dy. Conservator of Forests.
Sri. R.M. Dobriyal, IFS, Addl. Prl. Chief
Conservator of Forests (SF), Telangana State looking after Haritha Haram Programme
has headed the team in the state.
