Tirupati, 22 April 2018: The celestial ritual of Pushpa yagam was conducted at the TTD sub temple of Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy Temple with awe inspiring chanting of vedic hymns, glittering lights and eye catching flower decorations.
As part of the event utsava idols of Sri Kodanda Rama swamy along with Sita Lakshman were given Snapana Tirumanjanam, the traditional Abhisekam with milk, honey, curd, turmeric sandal, coconut water. The sacred yagam was conducted on the birth star of Sri Rama, punarvasu and the archakas chanted the vishnu gayatri mantram 108 times. The Pushpa Yagam is aimed to purify the temple premises of any ritualistic ill doings by either the staff or the devotees during the last Brahmotsavam-March 16-24.
In the afternoon the Pushpa Yagam was performed amidst chanting of vedic hymns by archakas at the unjal mandapam where three tonnes of flowers of 12 varieties and six varieties of scented leaves- ganneru, chamanti, marigold, chamanti, sampangi, Roses etc. The flower decoration of the deities with flowers donated by devotees from AP, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka was a feast and showcased the grandeur of the ritual.
The sacred deities are paraded on the mada streets of the temple from 6.30pm to 8pm at night after the completion of the Pushpa Yagam and bless the devotees.
