Chief Minister Sri.K.Chandrashekhar Rao laid foundation stone for Gattu
irrigation project at Jogulamba Gadwal District on Friday in order to provide
irrigated water for the distircts which are short of rain water. Gattu, Dharur,
Koti Reddy mandals falling under Gadwal constituency covering 33000 acres will
be benefitted, 41 tanks will be filled under the scheme the CM stated.
Ministers T.Harish Rao, Jupally Krishna Rao, C.Lakshma Reddy, public
representatives from the district and other officials accompanied the CM.
CM
said that the project which is estimated to cost Rs.553.98 crores need to be
completed at a rapid speed fulfilling the long wait bringing light in
distressed families. Farmers came in large numbers to convey their sincere
thanks to the CM.
Gattu lift
irrigation scheme details:
• During united state the then CM YS
Rajasekhar Reddy addressing a public meeting at Gadwal announced sanction of
Gattu High level canal but during his regime those works have not commenced and
no funds were allocated.
• On 14th September 2012 during Indiramma
programme the then CM Kiran Kumar Reddy announced that from Ryalapadu water
will be lifted and Gattu mandal tanks will be filled. Despite this announcement
for one and half years no permissions were granted for the project.
• Prior to 2014 elections again the issue
of Gattu lift irrigation was raised. In combined state AP government issued GO
No.3 Dt.22.01.2014 for 3000 acres ayacut stabilisation with 0.31 TMCs water and
also for surveying.
• Survey has not taken place, project plan
has not been made, DPR was not made, tenders were not called even then
foundation was laid.
• After formation of Telangana state with
retired engineers Hon’ble CM has conducted a review meeting. Minister Harish
Rao physically visited Gattu, Dharur, Koti Reddy Mnadals and spoke to the
people. In the drought prone mandals through Nettempad project to provide water
for 3000 acres when the works were taken up good results were shown in those
drought prone areas. Government has felt the change.
• In the light of the event it is proposed
to conduct a survey so as to provide water for 28000 acres with Gattu ayacut
lift irrigation project.
To this effect
GO Rt No. 461 has been issued on 3rd May 2016. 52.46 lakhs has been sanctioned
additionally.
• While comprehensive survey report was
about to present for the solar power plant in the reserved area 5000 acres was
sought by the local inmates to be brought under ayacut. Government could not
say no for the public demand. Again a resurvey was conducted. With which from
25000 acres it has been increased to 33000 acres to provide water. Accordingly
project has been conceptualised.
• With Gattu lift irrigation project 2.8
TMCs water the areas will be bloomed 41 tanks will be filled. 33000 acres will
be irrigated. 553.98 crores has been sanctioned. To this effect on 31st May
2018 GOMS No.60 has been issued.
