Telangana should achieve 90 per cent voting in Lok Sabha polls – Governor Narasimhan












Hyderabad, January 25:       Participating as Chief Guest in the National Voters Day-2019 celebrations held at Ravindra Bharathi on Friday, Governor Sri E.S.L. Narasimhan said that the National voters day is an important day that gives all eligible citizens of India their right to vote. The Governor said Right to vote is a very precious right every eligible citizen of India gets. All eligible citizens should register as voters and participate in voting without fail, said the Governor. The Governor congratulated the Telangana CEO Dr. Rajat Kumar for conducting recently concluded elections to Legislative Assembly in an very peaceful and orderly manner and for achieving high percentage of voting. The Governor also congratulated State Election Commissioner Sri Nagireddy for conducting the ongoing panchayat elections in a peaceful manner. He said the large turn out of voters in both these elections speaks volumes of the voters’ faith in the election process.
The Governor said dignitaries from many countries have visited our country to study the well established and vibrant electoral system. This time the Election commission has made special arrangements for the Persons with Disabilities, the visually impaired and the senior citizens to ensure they exercise their electoral franchise without much difficulty, said the Governor. The Governor said he would be happy if in the forthcoming elections to Lok Sabha, Telangana state registers 90 percent voting and to achieve this the first time voters should make it their duty and responsibility to go and exercise their voting right in large numbers. He said that unless people participate in voting they do not have any right to question the govt. Holiday given on voting day is not to sit at home and enjoy watching TV but to go out and cast your vote, said the Governor. He advised the first time voters to not to get influenced by anything and cast their vote in a free and fair manner as the future lies in their hands.   
State Election Commissioner Sri Nagi redddy, CEO Dr. Rajat Kumar, GHMC Commissioner Sri Dana Kishore, City Police Commissioner Sri Anjani Kumar have attended the programme.
On this occasion, Voter ID cards were distributed to first time voters and Awards were presented to officials for best performance in the recently concluded elections.
