It looks like Udhayanidhi Stalin’s fervent search for new-dimensional contents and genres have been earnestly getting the best into his stores. While the expectations are getting pretty good for his upcoming film ‘Kanne Kalaimaane’ scheduled for release on February 22, his new film ‘Kannai Nambathey’ has been launched this morning with a simple ritual ceremony. The film is a suspense-crime thriller with Mu Maran of Iravukku Aayiram Kangal helming the project, which is bankrolled by V.N. Ranjith Kumar.
Filmmaker Mu. Maran who has been unleashing his potentials in genre of suspense thriller through his directorial debut ‘Iravukku Aayiram Kangal’ is back to explore in same zone, this time merged with ‘Crime’ elements’. “When I debuted with Iravukku Aayiram Kangal, I scripted the film with a blind faith that audiences are always open to substantial contents, However, I was really happy over the way they had received Iravukku Aayiram Kangal, which exceeded my expectations. This prompted me to go ahead crafting the script for ‘Kannai Nambathey’ and am so gleeful that Udhayanidhi Stalin sir gave a nod instantly after listening to the script. Of course, he has now become an actor of great stature, where audiences have started expecting unique contents from him. This exerts an additional responsibility in me to give my best. I am thankful to producer V.N. Ranjith Kumar sir for his spontaneous nature of being open to new ideas and accepting my script”
Getting on to differentiate between his debut film and ‘Kannai Nambathey’ as they seemingly look similar in genre, he clarifies, “Maybe, suspense and thriller elements could be regarded as the commonality, but the premise is completely new and different with ‘Crime’ factors.”
With both his films’ titles (Iravukku Aayiram Kangal and Kannai Nambathey) having ‘Eyes’ as common factor, Mu Maran smilingly adds, “Well, we had to go through lots of considerations and finally zeroed in Kannai Nambathey as it was appropriate. If I am going to talk anything on the title’s significance, it will definitely turn out to be a spoiler.”
Producer V.N. Ranjith Kumar says, “As Mu Maran started narrating the script, I was like if things could be fast-forwarded to know what’s going to be final chapter. His narrative skill was so much brilliant and I am sure, it will definitely be a piece of cake for everyone. I am happy that Udhayanidhi Stalin sir accepted to be a part of this project and Kannai Nambathey will definitely stand out to be a remarkable film in his career.”
While Udhayanidhi Stalin and Aathmika will be seen in lead roles, Sathish will be essaying an important character. With the official announcements about others in the star-cast to be unveiled shortly, the shooting will go on floors from second week of February. While Sam CS will be composing music for this film, Sridhar gets onboard to crank the camera and San Lokesh as editor.
