Tirumala, 26 Apr. 19: The five day agamic ritual Astabandhana Balalaya Mahasamprokshanam will be observed in Sri Varaha Swamy temple on April 27 in the auspicious Karkataka Lagnam between 11am and 3.30pm.
This religious event is usually observed once in 12 years to increase the longevity of the presiding deity by applying Astabandhanam paste to the the pedestal on which the mula virat is seated.
After Maha Samprokshanam, special Ganta nasaan (temple bell) and other kainkaryams (tirumala) will be carried out followed by honour to ritwiks who took part in the five day ritual. Later the temple will be open for darshanam.
As it is a traditional practice that after the completion of Naivedyam in Varaha Swamy temple only, the Naivedyam should be rendered in Tirumala temple, there is no darshanam of Sri Venkateswara swamy from 11am till 3.30pm on Saturday in Srivari temple also.
After the Nityakatla Kainkaryams like Tomala, Archana, Second bell, Naivedyam and special Ghantanadam in Tirumala temple, darshanam commences for pilgrims.
