Tirupati, 11 Apr. 19: Mahatma Jyotirao Govindrao Phule remained as a role model to many other social reformers in the country, said, Tirupati JEO Sri B Lakshmikantham.
In his address as a chief guest during the 192 Jayanthi of Jyoti Rao Phule which was observed in the conference hall of TTD administrative building on Thursday, he said, Phule was an Indian social activist, a thinker, social reformer, women empowerment emancipator. His work extended to many fields including eradication of untouchability and the caste system. He remained as a visionary to many leaders, he added.
Govindaiah, Asst. professor of Archaeology department of SV University who was the chief speaker for the occasion elaborated on the life of Phule and how he struggled to achieve his mission of equality.
Welfare Department DyEO Smt Snehalatha was also present.
