Gita Govindam Enthiralls Pilgrims in SV Museum at Tirumala








Tirumala,21 May,2019:A special  screening of a short film on Gita  Govindam, picturization of the 12th century Sanskrit  romantic poetry by Saint Jayadev has been a major hit among devotees visiting the Sri Venkateswara Musuem at Tirumala.

The display is organised as the part of International Museum Day from May 18-30 jointly by TTD and the Delhi-based Indira Gandhi National Arts Centre(IGNAC).

The epic based on the love lore of Radha and Krishna is penned by Jayadeva in 83 couplets and is renowned across the Literary world as a masterpiece. The romance, separation blues of Radha and Krishna is composed wonderfully with a Jugalbandi of Bharatanatyam, Kathakali, Odissi and in Kuchipudi dance formats.
       
Sri Chandrasekhar Manda, SV Musuem  Special Officer and Sri Seetharamaiah, representative Of IGNAC have been supervising the arrangements for the special 30 minute  short film from 10am till 7pm in the evening, with a 10-member team drawn from both the organisations.

A separate arts exhibition of Jayadeva poetry with English and Hindi captions were also on display and was viewed by 3000 visitors daily.

The SV Musuem has rolled out special  galleries with Srivari temple legend, Punya Theerthams, copper plates of Annamacharya  sankeertans, sculptures of historic period, gold and silver coins etc. which enthusiasts of art and history admired.

Other highlights of  the  Museum were hundreds of stone idols of deities Vahanam of Srivari temple, photos of Srivari jewels, Silver throne used in Srivari  Kalyanam,  doors of  sanctum in Srivari temple,108 Divya kshetras, 104 yoga mudras, coconut yarn vessels and other utensils cum idols used in traditional rituals of Srivari temple were also in display to muse the visitors.
