Tirumala, 28 Mar. 20: To prevent the spread of Covid 19 Coronavirus, TTD has been putting forth complete efforts and also extending full cooperation to the district administration, said, TTD EO Sri Anil Kumar Singhal.
He participated in the event of Maha Purnahuti of the three day Srinivasa Shantyotsava Sahita Dhanwantari Maha Yagam at Dharmagiri Veda Vijayana Peetham on Saturday at Tirumala.
Speaking on this occasion, the EO explained that TTD had taken all the steps and efforts to combat the Coronavirus spread in Tirumala and Tirupati.
He said on receiving the information that some shelter-less, beggars are starving in Tirupati for food due to lockdown since it was announced, TTD under the aegis of the SV Annaprasadam Trust has decided to prepare 45,000 food packets everyday on the directions of TTD Trust Board Chairman Sri YV Subba Reddy which has commenced from Saturday onwards, he added.
The EO also said BIRRD hospital will be developed as Covid-19 Quarantine Centre. He said many cases of Covid-19 suspects are being referred to SVIMS and hence the BIRRD hospital has been permitted to be used as quarantine. Presently the Ruia, SVIMS and Padmavati hospitals are treating Covid-19 affected patients and Sri Padmavati Nilayam Rest House at Tiruchanoor is also converted into a quarantine centre, he maintained.
In view of the shortage of medical ventilators, he said TTD is ready to purchase and provide new ventilators to SVIMS Super speciality Hospital to tide over the crisis.
The EO also appreciated the TTD employees including the Health, Srivari temple, Reception, Annaprasadam, Vigilance and other critical departments for rendering service in spite of difficulties and personal risks.
