Tirumala, 27 Aug. 20: Scores of devotees who participated either directly in the third phase of Sundarakanda Akhanda Pathanam on Thursday at Tirumala or those who witnessed the live program in SVBC were immersed in the devotional sea.
This will be for the third time, TTD is conducting Akhanda Sundarakanda Pathanam while on July 7, the first feat was performed wherein 211 slokas from Prathama Sarga (First Chapter) were recited followed by the rendition of 227 Shlokas from Dwitiya Sarga (Second Chapter) to Sapthama Sarga (Seventh Chapter) for the second time on August 6. During the third phase, which was held on Thursday, 182 Shlokas from Astama Sarga to Ekadasa Sarga (Eighth tto Eleventh Chapters) were rendered by Vedic scholars Sri KSS Avadhani, Sri Pavana Kumar Sharma and Sri Seshacharyulu.
About 200 Vedic Scholars from Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, Rashtriya Sanskrita Vidya Peetham, Dharmagiri Veda Vignana Peetham, ISKCON participated in this devotional event.
Rastriya Sanskrit Vidya Peetham Vice-Chancellor Sri Muralidhara Sharma speaking on the occasion said, Sundarakanda Akhanda Pathanam will save humanity from the clutches of Coronavirus.
Later Sri KSS Avadhani, the Principal of Dharmagiri Veda Vignana Peetham said in total 68 Sargas (Chapters) comprising 2821 Shlokas are there in TTD published Sundarakanda.
''Today we have completed 11chapters in the third phase. It's been decided to conduct 16 Akhanda Pathanams as the number has a very significant place", he added.
Earlier, the programme commenced with Sri Rama Bhajan by Dr. K Vandana and team while concluded with Hanuman Bhajan rendered by Sri Raghunath team.
Additional EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy, FACAO Sri O Balaji, Agama Advisor Sri Mohana Rangacharyulu, SVBC CEO Sri Suresh Kumar and other officers of TTD were also present.
