Hyderabad, Sept 21: Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday called for greater awareness on the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020.
She said that the NEP-2020
is not only a policy of education but policy of the nation and this was the
courageous and concrete step by the Central government to give right direction
to the education system in the country.
Stating that the NEP-2020
has the potential to regain India’s position as the Vishwa Guru, the Governor
called for the effective implementation of the landmark policy.
Addressing the webinar to
launch the MyNEP competitions on New Education Policy-2020 organised by the
Vidya Bharathi organisation, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan urged different
stakeholders to take active part in the effective implementation of the
NEP-2020 so as to realise its stated objective of turning India as the
Knowledge Super Power.
“As the policy is aimed at
moulding our students as Global Citizens with strong Indian roots, the onus is
on all of us to take the initiative forward to make India as the destination
for International education,” she added.
The Governor said that the
NEP-2020 rightly emphasises on interdisciplinary studies and research,
vocational education, student-centric learning and teaching and practical-based
modern education that is in tune with the international standards.
Dr. Tamilisai
Soundararajan pointed out that the policy also focussed on nutritional aspects
as part of the Early Childhood Care and Education and gave top priority for education
with nutrition to build healthy nation.
“Greater autonomy to educational
institutions, increased choices to students to pursue the courses of their
choice in inter-disciplinary approach, improved accessibility to higher
education to all the sections of the people by creating 3.5 crore additional
seats would go a long way in catapulting the higher education system to the
next level,” the Governor said.
She said that NEP-2020 would
ensure man making education in the true spirit of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings
and would train the students as future-ready with required skill sets and with
entrepreneurial spirit.
The Governor lauded the
efforts of Vidya Bharati in creating awareness about the NEP-2020 among the
students by conducting competitions for different categories through ‘MyNEP’
initiative.
