Hyderabad, Sept 11: Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday exhorted the youth to follow the teachings of Swami Vivekananda to realise their full potential.
Expressing concern over
the spate of suicide cases among the students and youth, the Governor urged the
students and youth to read Swami’s teachings to overcome the depression and to
gain strength to fight the battles of life, and emerge winners.
“Vivekananda’s life itself
is a great message. Despite many ailments like diabetes and asthma, he never back
tracked in carrying out his mission of promoting Vedanta, the great Indian
philosophy, and selfless service all over the world. We must emulate his life
and follow path shown by him. Vivekananda said that even a dog should not go
hungry in this world,” she said
Dr. Tamilisai
Soundararajan was addressing the Sampriti Diwas online meeting, organised by
the Rama Krishna Math, marking the 127th anniversary of Swami
Vivekananda’s historic Chicago speech at the Parliament of Religions.
“Since my childhood,
whenever I feel a little bit low, I used to read Swami Vivekananda’s teachings to
get reenergised and motivated. Swami offered a simple mantra that all the power
is within us and he tells us that with conviction we can crush mountains and
drink oceans,” she said.
The Governor recollected
that her father presented Swami Vivekananda’s book when she was in 4th
Standard and ever since then, she was getting greater motivation and
inspiration by reading the teachings of the great Indian monk, who shook the
world with his powerful oratory and came to be known as the divine orator.
“Vivekananda’s message at the Parliament of
Religions in Chicago 127 years ago about the need to have universal religion
and to shun the feelings of hatred and bigotry to build a new world full of unity,
peace and prosperity is more relevant today than ever,” Dr. Tamilisai
Soundararajan added.
The Governor lauded the excellent
efforts of RK Math and the Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence, which is
celebrating its 21th foundation day, in promoting and popularising
the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and contributing to the human excellence.
RK Math Vice President
Swami Gautamananda, RK Math Adhyaksha Swami Jnanadananda, and Vivekananda
Institute of Human Excellence Director Bodhamayananda were among those who
spoke on the occasion.
