Telangana State, Women Safety Wing, has launched 3-day Training programme for SHE Teams for all 30 Police Units from 21-09–2020 to 23-09- 2020, the session was inaugurated by Smt.Swati Lakra, IPS, Addl. Director General of Police, Women Safety Wing, Telangana . It has been reiterated that “SHE Teams” need to reach out to nook & corners of the districts to ensure that women feel free to approach SHE Teams, so that their problems can be addressed.
Smt. B.Sumathi, IPS Deputy Inspector General of Police, WSW,TS explained the performance of „SHE Teams” since 2014 and utilisation of technology for transparent approach. It is observed that number of complaints approaching SHE Teams through Whasapp, Hawkeye, Mail, Dial-100 have increased by 63% compared to direct walk-ins, also complaints of Phone / Mobile Stalking & Online Harassment has risen from 40% to 63% since 2014.
As part of 3-days training session, Women Safety Wing is introducing a module “Audio – Video Connect of SHE Team Officers” to complaints/accused in certain cases of Phone related harassment. The 3-days training for the SHE Teams‟ members includes soft skills, so that each petitioner feels comfortable while approaching SHE Teams. The members will also be given training on Gender Sensitisation. A session on SHE Team Software which has been developed and being used by the SHE Team members will also be given during the training.
Popular Telugu Anchor Suma Kanakala also participated in the inaugural session & motivated the SHE Teams, The Addl. DCPs of various commissionerates Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda, Nizamabad etc. along with 400 Police personnel belongings to SHE Teams of all districts & commissionerates has attended the training program. .
