Tirumala, 21 October 2020: On the evening of the sixth day of the Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavams, Sri Malayappa Swamy seated majestically on Gaja Vahanam and blessed devotees.
The episode of Gajendra Moksham in Srimad Bhagavatam narrates how Lord rescued Gajendra and got him relieved from the clutches of Crocodile (Makara). Gaja is also known, as Airaavatha is vaahana of Lord Indra that is manifested from ocean during Ksheera-saagara Mathanam. An elephant is a symbol of royalty, richness and pride. This vahanam simply showcases the mightiness of Lord Venkateswara.
