Hyderabad, Oct 5: Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has exhorted the students to inculcate the spirit of adventure and good habits from early on so as to lead a healthy and successful life.
She said that being honest, truthful,
confident, courageous and adventurous need to be part of the character development
from childhood.
The Governor was virtually addressing
the students on the topic of “Grand Vision for Youth in India” organised by the
Silver Oaks International Schools on their Student Self-Government Day, from
the Raj Bhavan, here on Monday.
Exhorting the students to enjoy the
habit of book reading, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan reminisced that her father
inculcated the book reading habit in her by presenting Swami Vivekananda book
when she was in 4th standard.
The Governor urged parents and
teachers to present books to their children and encourage them read
non-academic books too.
She had particularly suggested the
book titled “Exam Warriors” written
by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the most useful to help them overcome the
fear of examinations and to do well in the examinations.
The Governor motivated the students to
learn from lives of great people like Bharat Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, who
rose from being a paperboy to the President of India and Narendra Modi ji, who
hailed from a humble Tea sellers family and went on become the Prime Minister
of the country.
“You must have passion and ready to
pursue it with utmost discipline, hard work and be willing to make sacrifices.
Emulate the achievements of sporting idols like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli
and PV Sindhu,” she added.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan also
emphasized on the need to practice Yoga and meditation to improve their
concentration and read the everyday lessons on the same day and likened it as
we take food every day to satiate our every day hunger.
The Governor wanted the children to
respect the elders in the family and protect the nature and natural resources
and told them not to waste any resource including the time, the most precious
of all.
One must enjoy one’s studies and enjoy
the nature and have a clear vision. I would like to see students from our country
emerge as the global leaders in their chosen fields.
Silver Oaks International Schools
director Ms Seetha Murthy, managing director Dhanunjaya, and student government
prime minister Saahas Sagar Rao and thousands of students joined the
inspiration session with the Governor, whose speech was laced with interesting
anecdotes.
