Hyderabad, Nov 23: Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday said native language and culture are mutually enriching. She stated that culture and the native languages are interlinked and reflect and benefit the other.
The Governor was delivering the
valedictory address on the topic of “Language resources and cultural richness”
as part of the online conference on “Path to Progress: National Education
Policy-2020,” organised by the Samskrita Bharati, Tamil Nadu.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan termed
the language as the instrument of culture and added that a language is not
about the words, it is about the culture, tradition and a way of life for the
speakers of that language.
“Language expands our thinking
horizons. Language largely contributes for the growth and character of the
speakers and in the process also gets enriched by its use,” she said.
Referring to the Sanskrit language,
the Governor said that it had contributed for the enrichment of many languages
and is found to be suitable for the computer language too.
The Governor pointed out that it was
important to protect, patronise and promote Sanskrit language as it offers the
access to treasure of our epics and heritage and the Vedas.
“Learning a new language is always
beneficial, but at the same time it is our duty to promote our mother tongue
too, as it would help the people to understand, think and learn the things
better,” she added.
The Governor appreciated the efforts
of the Samskrita Bharati in promoting the Sanskrit language with an objective
to train the people speak fluently in Sanskrit.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan stated
that Prime Minister Narendra Modi too has initiated a number of steps to
promote and popularise Sanskrit and other classical languages in the country.
Samskrita Bharati southern region
president Dr. R. Ramachandran, research wing co-ordinator Anuradha Shiva Kumar,
