Hyderabad, Oct 31: With an objective to promote awareness on breast cancer and its early detection, the Raj Bhavan, here, was illuminated in pink on Saturday.
The historic Raj Bhavan complex was
brightly illuminated in pink by the Usha Lakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation,
which took the permission of Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan during an
online breast cancer awareness meeting earlier.
The month of October is being
observed as the International Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Emphasising on the early detection
of breast cancer, Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan stated that the early
detection and treatment would help save thousands of precious lives.
Women aged above 40 years need to
get yearly tests to detect any signs of breast cancer and get the early
treatment to conquer the cancer. “Early detection is vital in effective cancer
treatment and survival. We must all strive for the promotion of better
awareness on breast cancer on a regular basis,” she added.
Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation
founder and CEO Dr P. Raghu Ram said that it was for the first time ever that
any Raj Bhavan was illuminated in pink to create awareness on breast cancer in
the country.
Governor appreciated the initiative
of the Ushalakshmi foundation and its founder Dr Raghu Ram in creating
awareness about the breast cancer and thus saving many precious lives through
their services.
