Tirupati, 14 Jan. 21: On the last day of Dhanurmasam, the divine wedding ceremony of Goda Kalyanam was performed with celestial grandeur by TTD in the Parade Grounds behind TTD Administrative Building in Tirupati on the pleasant evening on Thursday.
The Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad (HDPP) Secretary Sri Rajagoplan who anchored the whole event while narrating about the significance of Goda Kalyanam said that like Sita Kalyanam in Treta Yuga, Rukmini Kalyanam in Dwapara Yuga, Padmavathi Parinayam in Kaliyuga, similarly Goda Kalyanam is equally important as it was observed 5000 years ago where in Andal Sri Godai tied knot to Sri Krishna Swamy.
Adding further he said, the same episode was replicated today in the Temple City on the auspicious day of Makara Sankranti.
GODA AND SRI KRISHNA SWAMY KALYANAM
Earlier, the deities of Andal Sri Goda Drvi and Sri Krishna Swamy, finely decked in dazzling jewels and bright silks were brought and seated on a special platform on the stage of Parade Grounds.
SERIES OF EVENTS IN KALYANAM
Archakas performed Kalyanam in a colourful manner by chanting Vedic hymns. The marriage observed with utmost devotion and grandeur with a series of events including Punyahavachanam, Vishwaksena Aradhana, Ankurarpanam, Kankanadharana, Pratisarabandhana Puja, Sankalpam, later the Gotra Namas of deities were recited with Gargeya Gotra for Sri Krishna Swamy and Bhargava Gotram for Goda Devi and Kanyadana Mahotsavam, Mangalyadharanam, Varanamayiram, Naivedyam and Mangala Harati performed.
ANNAMACHARYA SANKEERTANS ENTHRALL
The spiritual fervour of the programme enhanced with the rendition of Annamacharya Sankeertans.
MP Sri Vemireddi Prabhakar Reddy, TTD EO Dr KS Jawahar Reddy, Board Member Smt Prasanthi Reddy, Additional EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy and others were also present.
DEVOTEES OVERWHELMED
Devotees who thronged the celestial marriage event were overwhelmed as the Goda Kalyanam is performed for the first time by TTD for the denizens in a grand manner as a part of its month long Dhanurmasa Utsavams which concluded on January 14.
