Tirumala, 3 May 2021: The TTD spiritual endeavour to out-beat the pandemic Corona, Shodasha Dina Sundarakanda Diksha parayanams commenced as per Agama traditions at Vasantha mandapam at Tirumala on Monday morning and will continue till May 18.
As per the Shodashakshari Maha Mantram, the first-day parayanams on the first keyword ‘‘ Raa ‘ comprising of 269 shlokas (211 of first sarga and 58 of second sarga) were chanted by Vedic pundits. It was followed by parayanams of Bala Ramayana and the Visuchika Maha-mantra of the Yoga Shaista which included Sri Rama Prarthana, Sri Anjaneya Prarthana and Sri Valmiki Prarthana.
There after 16 upasakas performed Shloka parayanams. On Tuesday 152 shlokas of 3-6 sargas of Sundara Kanda parayanams will be conducted
Speaking on the occasion Principal of Dharmagiri Veda Pathashala Acharya KSS Avadhani said the TTD was performing the Shodasha Dina Sundarakanda Diksha for well being of humanity with blessings of Sri Sita Sameta Sri Ramachandra and Sri Anjaneya.
He said besides the Shloka Parayanams at Vasantha Mandapam, 16 Vedic Upasakas would daily observe Japam and Homa programs for 16 days at the Dharmagiri Veda Pathashala.
He said in the unique Diksha each day parayanams were based on the first word in a shloka as it had a specific meaning which heralded the Maha-mantra for universal well-being.
For the benefit of Srivari devotees across the world the program is live telecast by the SVBC every morning at 08.30 am.
TTD health officer Dr RR Reddy, SV Institute of higher Vedic studies OSD Dr Akella Vibhishana Sharma were present.
