Inspiring and motivating tribal people to get vaccinated to protect themselves from the COVID pandemic, Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday got her second dose of vaccine along with the tribal women at KC Thanda, a tribal habitation in Maheshwaram mandal of Ranga Reddy district.

Concerned about the reports indicating low percentage of vaccination among tribal people, the Governor got administered her second dose of vaccine amidst the tribal people.

Inspired by the fact that none other than the State’s First Citizen coming to their tribal village and taking the vaccine along with them, the tribal women and others enthusiastically vied with each other to take the vaccine.

“I just want to set an example by taking the vaccine at their remote tribal habitation and motivate the tribal people to overcome the vaccine-hesitancy and come forward to get vaccinated,” she said.

Amazed and inspired by the personal presence of the Governor herself, the tribal people in the thanda took instantaneous interest in getting vaccinated in this remote habitation of tribals.

Seated along with tribal women, who came in their rich traditional attire,  the Governor took the second dose evoking instantaneous applause from the tribal people and the medical and health staff and the media personnel present in the PHC.

The Governor, who is a doctor herself, by taking the vaccine amidst and along with the tribal people, has created a huge impact and inspiration among the tribal people to shun their vaccine-hesitancy and get the vaccine administered.

The Governor called for the 100 per cent vaccination of all the tribal people with special attention towards those primitive tribal groups living in remote forest areas.

“The tribal people should be given vaccination on a priority basis. They should be protected from this deadly pandemic,” she added.

The Governor stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made ‘Himayalayan effort’ in ensuring that our country develops our own indigenous vaccine.

Thus our Prime Minister has assured the protection of 130 crore people of our country from the deadly pandemic.

“Indigenous vaccine development is the biggest achievement of our country. Even many developed countries do not have their own vaccine. We have helped many countries by supplying vaccine. We are witnessing the world’s largest vaccination in our country,” she added.

“I am sure the tribal people who were showing a bit of vaccine-hesitancy will now be courageous enough to get vaccinated. I wish this tribal habitation will be 100 per cent vaccinated in a couple of days,” she said.

Tribal women, who spoke, on the occasion expressed that now that the Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan herself coming to the tribal habitation and getting vaccinated is a huge honour for them. She said that the visit of the Governor has inspired them a lot and gave them a new hope and courage about the vaccination.

The tribal woman, Ms Sunitha, said that the tribal habitation is really witnessing a festive atmosphere with the arrival of the Governor.

The Governor appealed to the people that each one of us must act like “vaccine ambassadors” and motivate the people to get vaccinated at their turn. Vaccine is the permanent protection, while masks and other COVID-appropriate behavour offer temporary protection.

Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, who is fondly called as the daughter of Tamil Nadu and Sister of Telangana, addressed the tribal people as the tribal brothers and sisters and greeted them in Telugu and conveyed her greetings.

“I have a special fondness and liking towards tribal people. I came here to give you all courage to get vaccinated and get protected,” she added.

The Governor also appreciated the efforts of the Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao in effectively containing the pandemic in the State and in taking the vaccination drive forward in our State.

“I hope my gesture of taking vaccination in a tribal habitation will help motivate all the tribal people across the state in getting vaccinated and get protection from the pandemic,” she added.

The Governor also appealed to the media to take the vaccination message in a proactive manner to the people and motivate them to take the vaccine and contain the pandemic.

Education Minister Ms Sabitha Reddy stated that it was a huge honour for the Ranga Reddy district and the tribal people across the state that the Governor took the vaccine at a tribal habitation and thus setting a personal example.

“The Governor herself coming to the remote tribal habitation and taking vaccine at the same PHC will have a huge impact across the State in motivating people to get vaccinated,” she added.
