Priority to Research and Development at BIRRD Hospital - TTD Eo


The Balaji Institute of Surgery, Research and Rehabilitation for the Disabled should focus on prioritizing Research and Development in Orthopaedic medicine, said TTD Executive Officer Dr. KS Jawahar Reddy.

 

During a review meeting held on BIRRD activities in his chamber at TTD Administrative Building in Tirupati, on Thursday he directed upon officials of BIRRD hospital to set up a separate unit for treatment of children in ailments like Polio, Bone corrections, Scoliosis and cerebral palsy.


He asked officials to utilise the extended OP section set up during Covid season to utilize for treating Trauma and cerebral cases. He also suggested that the waiting period for all surgeries be reduced to less than three months only.


He urged officials to make full use of the unique software app for integrated maintenance of the hospital by training all staff members. The TTD EO said the purchase of the entire hospital equipment should be routed through the common procurement cell and reviewed the tender bids that were already called for purchases.


Directing engineering officials to complete all the civil works, he also advised the officers to upscale infrastructure to increase the bed strength of the BIRRD hospital from existing 150 to 350 beds whenever needed.


The TTD EO also inspected the construction of the Paediatric hospital underway within the BIRRD complex.


Additional EO and MD of BIRRD Sri AV Dharma Reddy, FA and CAO Sri O Balaji, IT in charge Sri Sesha Reddy, CMO Dr Muralidhar, RMO Sri Sesha Shailendra, BIRRD OSD Dr Reddappa Reddy and others were present.
