A
team of faculty members including Prof D Narsimha Rao, the Co-founder of the
Centurion University, Prof.Pushpalatha (plant biotechnology), Dr.Rukmini Mishra
(Applied Botany), along with Mr Raju Aramadaka of Dussalt systems have visited
the Forest College and Research Institute as part of the one day workshop to
harness the Smart technologies in Forestry.
The
workshop was organized jointly by the
Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI) Hyderabadand the Centurion
University of Technology and Management, Odisha. The workshop was inaugurated
by Smt. Priyankaa Varghese, IFS, Dean, FCRI. Senior retired IAS officer, Shri B
P Acharya who has attended the event as a guest has shared his views on setting
up an incubator facility for start-ups in forestry.
The
workshop deliberated on the ways and means of improving the skill sets of
Forestry students as per the New Educational Policy. New technologies with a
fusion of the virtual and physical worlds such as LiDAR, UAV, Drones using
technology, cloud computing etc will be incorporated into
the curriculum in partnership with Industry and the students will pass out with
industry-ready job skills.
The
workshop was attended by the faculty members and students of the FCRI, along
with administrative staff members, including Dr Suthan, IFS, Joint Director, Mr
K Srinivas and A Narasimha Reddy, Deputy directors of the college.
