Governor calls for more women Nephrologists

Hyderabad, Aug 13: Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has called for more number of women Nephrologists to create greater awareness about the kidney ailments.

She said that lack of awareness about the kidney diseases and their protection, more and more number of people are suffering from kidney ailments. Women are also suffering a lot due to the kidney diseases.

The Governor was virtually launching the “Women In Nephrology-India (I-WIN), an organization of women Nephrologists, from the Raj Bhavan, here.

Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan appreciated that there is a steady increase in the number of women doctors entering the specialization of Nephrology is increasing.

“I am really happy to find that there are more than 350 women Nephrologists in our country. This will help create better awareness among women about the kidney ailments and help prevent the same.

The Governor stated that she fully understands the issues related to the practicing doctors specialized in Nephrology as her husband Dr. P. Soundararajan is a very senior specialist in Nephrology.

Dr. Jai Prakash Ojha, President, ISOT, Dr.K L.Gupta, President, ISN, Dr.Viekanand Jha, Immediate Past President, International Society of Nephrology, and senior Nephrologists Dr.Urmila Anand, and Dr.Manjusha Yadla were present.
