Anjanadri Tirumala- The Birth Place of Lord Hanuman

 Among the different ranges in Tirumala, Anjanadri is one of the most popular and a forefront synonym of Tirumala Hills.

 

Skanda, Brahmanda, Brahma, Padma, Bhavishyottara, Vamana, Varaha puranas occupy a prime place in praising Tirumala as Anjanadri as available in the SRI VENKATACHALA MAHATMYAM - an Anthology of Puranas related to Sri Venkatachala as approved by the great Sri Vaishnava Saint Sri Sri Sri Ramanujacharya about one thousand years ago.

 

To state in particular, Skanda Purana in its all presently available versions, Brahma, Bhamanda Purana, parts of Sri Venkatachala Mahatmyam give a detailed account of ANAJANADRI AS THE BIRTH PLACE OF ANJANEYA.

 

This kind of Pauranic evidences are not at all available for any other places in India which claim as the Birth Place of Hanuman just basing on the local public notions.

 

A DIVINE INSPIRATION

 

It is much known to all that on the 5th August, 2020 the foundation stone for constructing the Divine Temple of Sri Rama in the Holy City of Ayodhya stood as one of the causes for TTD to take up this Anjanadri Tirumala project.

 

HUMANS PROPOSE GOD DISPOSES

 

At the same time devotees from different corners of the world have forwarded mails to TTD mandatins to declare Anjanadri as the birthplace of Anjaneya as the famous hillock is located in Tirumala alone.

 

Consequently, TTD Administration has constituted a Pandita Parishat with Late Prof. V. Muralidhara Sarma, former Vice Chancellor of National Sanskrit University, Tirupati as the President of the scholar committee to thoroughly study the Puranic, Epigraphic, Geological evidences available and establish concrete proofs to declare that Anjanadri Tirumala is Hanuman Janmasthala.

 

Stalwarts like Prof. Janamaddi Ramakrishna, Prof. Rani Sadasiva Murthy, Dr. Akella Vibhishana Sarma,  Prof. Sankara Narayanan, Sri Vijay Kumari Yadav were the other members.

 

As a result of committed study of various sources by these scholars a synopsis of the future pursuits was brought out and released on the auspicious day of Sri Rama Navami on April 21 in 2021.

 

A Two Day International Webinar was held with many authentic scholars on July 30 and 31 last. With the best of the contributions by the scholars it was planned to bring out a treatise with authentic citations from the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, the Puranas like Skanda Purana, 11 Pauranic selections from SRI VENKATACHALA MAHATMYAM, main ritualistic Agamas of Tirumala, Other sections of Sanskrit Literature, Bhakti Sahitya on Venkatadri, The Sankeerthanas of Annamayya, Purandara Dasa and Vengamamba, Various Inscriptions etc.

 

This great book is supplemented by the auspicious blessings of various Pithadhipathis and also of Popular great personalities of the age.

 

BHOOMI PUJA ON FEBRUARY 16

 

Finally on February 16, on the auspicious day of Magha Pournami, Bhoomi Puja will be performed at Akasaganga where Anjanadri Anjaneya is located. Donors Sri Narayanam Nageswara Rao and Sri Murali Krishna, renowned Art Director Sri Ananda Sai will give design of the development activities consisting Gopurams, massive statue of Anjaneya etc.

 

Spiritual personalities including Sri Swarupannda Saraswati of Visakha Sarada Peetham, Chitrakoot Seer, Sri Ramabhadracharyulu, Rama Janmabhoomi Treasurer Sri Govindadev Giriji Maharaj, Sri Koteswara Sarma and others will be gracing the momentous program.
