One hundred tons of organic pulses required for making Srivari naivedyam prasadam reached Tirupati on Saturday and TTD Additional EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy received the stock at marketing godown after ceremonial pujas.
Speaking on the occasion the Additional EO said the organic pulses procured from 2500 organic farmers through the Markfed and processed by millers was procured by the TTD.
He said the annual requirement of pulses for Srivari Prasadam is 7,000 tones of pulses that includes 896 tons of red gram dal, 215 tons of black gram dal, 474 tons of jaggery, 54 tonnes of coriander seeds, 25 tons of turmeric, 237 tons of Sona masuri rice,22 tons of cumin seeds, 83 tons of dried red chillies, 284 tons of Moong dal, 25 tons of chanadal shall be purchased from organic farmers in next two years. This year 2300 tons of pulses were bought from organic farmers.
He said in order to support the organic farmers in the task TTD has provided them1800 bullocks and unproductive cows for the use in farming activities.
Earlier Additional EO garlanded portraits of swami and ammavaru at the TTD marketing godown and performed special pujas.
