TTD has commenced yet another unique service for Srivari Sevaks in Tirumala on Thursday.
TTD EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy launched the new Seva by performing Puja at Srivari Seva Sadan 2 (Men's Block). Speaking on the occasion he said, TTD usually purchases Cashew splits by going for tenders. But it has become a Herculean Task to procure split cashews now-a-days. So to meet our requirement TTD has commenced the Cashewnut splitting service initially in the Marketing Godown at Tirupati on March 21. In the last 52days (excluding Sundays and holidays) 26000 kilos of cashews were split by 5200 sevaks (each day 100) in Tirupati. The actual requirement of cashews for making prasadams in Tirumala each day is to the tune of 3500kgs to 4000kilos. So we have also commenced this seva in Tirumala today", he added.
However, he said, TTD is also searching for an alternate mechanism of using State-of-Art technology to meet its daily requirement of split cashews. The machinery is available at Visakhapatnam, Bangalore etc. A couple of trials have also been carried out. If it proves to be fruitful for TTD, we can reduce the manpower and introduce the same for splitting the cashews. Till that time, the services of Srivari Sevakulu shall be utilised", he maintained.
The EO also interacted with the Sevaks who are rendering cashew splitting service and briefed them about the importance of this seva.
GM Marketing Sri Subramaniam, WareHouse Deputy EO Sri Natesh Babu, Catering Officer Sri Shastry, VGO Sri Bali Reddy, DyEE Sri Damodaram, AEO Srivari Seva Smt Nirmala and other staff were also present.
