TTD Chairman Sri YV Subba Reddy on Thursday performed pujas and resumed pilgrim services on the Srivari Mettu footpath route.
Speaking on the occasion the Chairman said, due to the unprecedented torrential downpour on November 16, 17 and 18 of 2021which had led to massive landslides on the Srivari Mettu footpath damaging steps, footpath, toilets etc.
The TTD Board Chief said Puranic legends say that Sri Venkateswara Swamy Himself has used this ancient route to reach Tirumala. The inscriptions of the Srivari temple also reveal that this footpath was developed by the kings of the Vijayanagara empire and that emperor Sri Krishna Devaraya had regularly used this path.
Complimenting the TTD Engineering department which took up the repair works on a war footing at a cost of ₹3.60 crore has completed all the works ahead of schedule for the benefit of the devotees, the Chairman said.
"Though it is a difficult task to bring the construction required for restoration works as the damaged occurred in the middle of the footpath, our Engineering officials did an excellent job in getting it ready ontime", he added.
The Chairman felicitated all the Engineering officials, contractors on the occasion.
Board Members Dr C Bhaskar Reddy, Sri M Ramulu, Sri P Ashok Kumar, JEOs Smt Sada Bhargavi, Sri Veerabrahmam, CVSO Sri Narasimha Kishore, CE Sri Nageswara Rao, SE 2 Sri Jagadeeshwar Reddy, Additional CVSO Sri Siva Kumar Reddy, EE Sri Surendranath Reddy, VGO Sri Manohar were also present.
