Moved by the hardships of devotees walking on burning steps and blacktopped roads the TTD chairman Sri YV Subba Reddy on Saturday directed officials to organise on a war footing a green carpet along the footpath within 24 hours.
While on a downward journey to Tirumala on Friday the chairman was moved by the sight of suffering devotees at Mokali Mettu and Akkagarla Gudi. Stopping on the way he interacted with the devotees and heard their woes of hardships of walking in the hot sun and blazing stone steps and blacktopped roads.
Immediately he contacted TTD Chief engineer Sri Nageswara Rao and instructed him to put green carpet and spray water within 24 hours. The officials jumped into action and by Saturday morning spread green carpet and sprayed water at various junctions notified of the scorching heat.
The devotees were thrilled by the swift action of TTD and complimented the TTD chairman for his spontaneous action with regard to devotees hardships.
Speaking on the occasion the TTD chairman said in view of summer heat and common devotees massive rush to the hill shrine during the last days of summer officials were directed to organise facilities on footpaths and also on junctions of Tirumala.
