As part of its 16-year-old tradition the TTD is organising a Vishesh Sahasra Kalashabhisekam of Sri Bhoga Srinivasamurthy on June 5 at Srivari temple.
In this connection, the Ekantha Sahasra Kalashabhisekam will be performed by Archakas to Sri Bhoga Srinivasa idol at the Bangaru vakili inside the temple between 06.00-08.00 am. All arjita sevas will also be conducted as scheduled on the day of festivities.
Legend say that the 18 cm high statue of Sri Bhoga Srinivasa idol was presented to the temple in 614 by Pallava queen Somavai Perundevi as indicated by a rock inscription on the first prakaram wall of the temple.
Agama traditions say that Sri Bhoga Srinivasa idol is one of the five idols (Pancha Beras) in the Srivari temple and also known as Kauthukamurthy or Sri Manavala Perumal.
