Hon’ble Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday emphasized on the importance of active community engagement in the fight against the Tuberculosis.
“It
is vital to ensure the active participation of the community and enlist support
of the family at all levels to realise the goal of TB Mukt Bharat by the year
2025,” she said.
The
Governor was launching the Sale of TB Seal at a special function held at the
Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan, here.
Dr.
Tamilisai Soundararajan set the task for the TB Association of Telangana to
intensify efforts to ensure the TB Mukt Telangana by the year 2024.
The
Governor has decided to adopt 100 TB patients and those adopted patients will
get the nutritional food for a period of six months.
Inspired
by the Governor’s gesture, a total of 10 officers have also decided to adopt as
many TB patients and the patients will get the nutritional food and support for
the treatment period.
Dr.
Tamilisai Soundararajan also called upon the donors and the philanthropists to
come forward to adopt the poor TB patients and provide them with the
nutritional food and other support help them get cured from the dreaded disease.
The
Governor expressed her confidence that the remaining 10 per cent of the total
TB patients would find the donors to adopt them by the end of this October.
She appreciated the fact that out of the
28,000 patients, at least 25,000 have got the support from the philanthropists
and other organisations in the State.
Referring
to the Multi Drug Resistant TB, the Governor said that it was new challenge for
the medical fraternity to offer effective treatment to the patients.
She
exhorted the Non-Governmental Organisations, Indian Red Cross Society,
volunteers, and all other stakeholders to join the hands with the government in
fighting against the TB.
The
Governor called for intensive efforts by all the sections of the people in
creating better awareness to prevent the spread of the TB.

to Governor K. Surendra Mohan and other representatives from the TB Association
of Telangana were present.
