Governor calls for greater research to realise the potential of horticulture


















Hyderabad, December 23: Hon’ble Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday called for greater research in the field of horticulture to realise its full potential for the benefit of the country’s health and economy.

Addressing the 2nd Convocation of the Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University (SKLTSHU) at Mulug, here, as the Chancellor, she stated that there is an immense potential for the promotion of horticulture through research.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has made us realise the importance of healthy and natural foods, this is where the horticulture has a tremendous growth potential,” she added.

The Governor said that horticulture promotion in a big way would contribute for the growth of economy, while offering entrepreneurial opportunities for the horticulture specialists.

Emphasizing on the importance of research and massive promotion of medicinal plants and other aromatic plants, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan said that it was time that we rediscover our ancient Indian knowledge systems in this domain.

“We must understand and appreciate our roots, where our forefathers lived a very healthy life with longevity, in this context, it is time that we create better awareness among the younger generation about eating healthy and eating right,” she added.

She exhorted the passing out graduates, post graduates, and the doctoral scholars to focus on the positive aspects of life and face the challenges in a courageous manner with right attitude.
